MC of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reic_spokenword\">REIC<\/a><\/strong> bilingual spoken word and co-founder of LGBTQ+ arts collective <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerachaiteachgaelach.net\/\">AerachAiteachGaelach<\/a>. One of the <em>Irish Examiner&#8217;s<\/em> &#8216;100 Women Changing Ireland in 2022&#8217;. Ciara has performed in New York, Paris, London, Brussels, Sweden and across Ireland. Her work is published in anthologies <em>Bone and Marrow\/Cn\u00e1mh agus Smior, Queering the Green, Washing Windows Too<\/em>; journals <em>Impossible Archetype, Aneas, Icarus<\/em>, and <em>Comhar<\/em>. Over the years she has been a recipient of grants and bursaries from the Arts Department of Wexford Co. Council. Her poetry has appeared in many journals including <em>Feasta, An tUltach, An Linn Bhu\u00ed, Crann\u00f3g, The Galway Review, The Stony Thursday Book<\/em> and she has been the winner of Duais Fhoras na Gaeilge at Listowel Writers\u2019 Week. As well as five collections in English, an Irish collection <em>R\u00e9 na n\u00dall<\/em> was published with Coisc\u00e9im in 2019. He is the editor and founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clarionpoetry.com\"><em>Clarion<\/em><\/a> and Feral Angels Press and co-founder of Hedgespoken travelling storytelling theatre and Hedgespoken Press. His poem-book <em>Sometimes a Wild God<\/em> is a subcultural classic and his most recent collection is <em>The Queen of Heaven<\/em> (Feral Angels Press, 2024). Tom has never won a poetry prize or had work in a poetry magazine, and yet somehow he makes his living writing, publishing and teaching poetry as a form of folk medicine. His other works include <em>Nettle-Eater<\/em> (2018) and <em>At the Orphans&#8217; Door<\/em> (2023).<\/p>\n<p>As editor of <em>Clarion<\/em>, Tom champions writing with clarity, illumination, strong storytelling, music of language, wildness and generosity. The (late) Summer issue of <em>Clarion<\/em> particularly focuses on responses to genocide and ecological desecration, but also has time for schools of fish moving in bright water and the aftermath of love. Tom has two sons and lives in the country of hope-beyond-hope. His performance style is influenced by slam conventions, but subverts them with wit, ironic humour and a satirical tone. <\/p>\n<p>His poetry and fiction have appeared in international anthologies from New York to Australia. In 2021, his poem &#8220;This Is Not Real Poetry&#8221; was nominated for a Pushcart Prize; in 2022, he launched his debut novel, <em>Hate Story<\/em>; and last year, his short story &#8220;The Madness East of St. George&#8221; was a finalist in the Writers&#8217; Union of Canada&#8217;s annual Short Prose Competition for Emerging Writers.
